Day 1: Arrive at Auckland
Our representative will meet you and take you to your car. The balance of the day is free.
Overnight in Auckland.
Day 2: Auckland - Rotorua 4 - 8 hours
You can drive directly to Rotorua or via the famous Waitomo Caves, or alternatively follow
Highway 2 down through Tauranga and the kiwifruit country. The famous Maori Hangi and
Concert is included. Two nights in Rotorua.
Day 3: At Rotorua
Today is free - make sure you see Whakarewarewa, the Agrodome, Rainbow Springs, ride the
luge at Skyline, swim in a thermal pool.
Day 4: Rotorua - Napier 4 hours
Drive past Waiotapu Thermal area (optional) and through Wairakei to Lake Taupo. Then over
the Rangitaiki Plains to Hawkes Bay and Napier (Art Deco) City. Overnight in Napier.
Day 5: Napier - Wellington 5 hours
Tours to the gannet colony are optional and tide dependent. The drive today is to
Dannevirke and then either via Palmerston North and Levin, OR, via Masterton to
Wellington. Overnight in Wellington.
Day 6: Wellington - Picton - Nelson 7 hours
Transfer to the ferry to Picton, perhaps visit some of the famous vineyards near Blenheim,
then over the Rai Saddle to Nelson. Stay two nights in Nelson.
Day 7: At Nelson
Today is at leisure- we suggest a visit to the nearby Abel Tasman National Park and a
cruise or walk along the coast (optional).
Day 8: Nelson - Greymouth - Glaciers 9 hours
Via Westport to the pancake rocks at Punakaiki, and then via Greymouth and Hokitika to the
West Coast World Heritage National Park. Overnight at Franz Josef Glacier.
Day 9: Glaciers - Queenstown 7 hours
An early start will allow you time to see the Glacier. Drive via Haast Pass and Lakes
Wanaka and Hawea to Queenstown. Stay two nights in Queenstown.
Day 10: At Queenstown
A free day for the dozens of optional activities and sightseeing.
Day 11: Queenstown - Milford Sound - Overnight cruise 5 hours
Around Lake Wakatipu to Kinston then across to beautiful Lake Te Anau. Then a magnificent
drive through the Eglinton Valley, the Homer Tunnel and the Cleddau canyon to Milford
Sound. Board the 'Mariner' for your overnight cruise on the fiord.
Day 12: Milford Sound - Te Anau - Farm lodge 3 hours
Enjoy the solitude of the Sound and the many optional activities available before driving
back to near Te Anau to meet your hosts for tonight and a farm tour - DBB.
Day 13: Te Anau - Dunedin 4 hours
From Te Anau it is a half-day drive to Dunedin. Stay at the Castle Lodge (30 minutes out
of the city - near the albatross and penguin colonies).
Day 14: Dunedin - Mount Cook 5 hours
Stop off to see the Moeraki Boulders. Turn inland and follow the Waitaki River up to the
Mt Cook National Park. Overnight at Mt Cook.
Day 15: Mt Cook - Christchurch 5 hours
Ski plane flights in the early morning are optional. Drive to Lake Tekapo and across the
plains to Christchurch. Overnight in Christchurch.
Day 16: Departure from Christchurch
Today is at leisure until you return your car to the Airport before catching your flight.
