Fiordland Dusky Sound &
Stewart Island Excursions

There is no better way to experience Fiordland and Stewart Island than cruising during the winter season when the weather is at its most settled. Our vessel, the Milford Wanderer, designed along the lines of a traditional trading scow, provides the ideal way to explore this spectacular part of the world.

Wanderer

  • 36 passengers per departure
  • Comfortable bunk-style accommodation (2 per compartment - vessel layout )
  • All bedding provided
  • Modern bathroom facilities
  • Hearty home cooked meals plus morning and afternoon teas
  • Open bridge policy

There are two cruise destinations for you to choose from:

  1. Fiordland National Park
    1. Dusky Sound Cruise (5 days)
    2. Preservation Inlet Cruise (7 days)
    3. Northern Fiords (5 days)
  2. Stewart Island

Fiordland's southernmost fiords are magnificent. Mountains rise straight from the sea. Rugged coastlines indented with sheltered waterways and dense rainforest together with a challenging climate make an incredible wilderness.

Your Fiordland journey begins with a cruise across island-studded Lake Manapouri and over Wilmot Pass to join the Milford Wanderer awaiting at Deep Cove, Doubtful Sound.

In Fiordland, we have three cruise options for you to consider:

Dusky Sound Discovery Cruise (5 days)
For five wonderful days you will explore three of New Zealand's most stunning fiords -Doubtful, Breaksea and Dusky Sounds.

Preservation Inlet Discovery Cruise (7 days)
You will enjoy all the highlights of the Dusky Sound Discovery Cruise and then journey further south to Chalky and Preservation Inlets. With this extended seven day cruise option a one-way helicopter transfer between West Arm and Preservation Inlet increases exploration time.

Northern Fiords Discovery Cruise (5 days)
Includes five days and four nights visiting George Sound, Caswell Sound, Thompson/Bradshaw Sound (also includes one way helicopter flight).
